I’m betting this one didn’t mean less to the team - who used the delay as an excuse to bar all print and photo media from entering the clubhouse. I’m sure they’re relishing the opportunity to get crazy inappropriate behind closed doors rather than trotting out more champagne photo ops for the press. Except Papelbon, who I presume is devastated not to be able to run around showboating on the field again. Agreed. Plus no one wants to see Shaughnessy standing around & smirking while Cristal drips from his curly locks. Am I the only one who thinks that Wild Card teams shouldn’t get shirts? Shirts are for champs, and the Wild Card team is, well, the best second place team in the league. Whoopee. That doesn’t deserve t-shirts and hats. And it’s not just because it’s Boston. (Although it doesn’t hurt) Baseball is the only sport that gives t-shirts and hats to teams who have yet to win a goddamn thing except for a playoff spot. It’s silly.
